SUPERINTENDENT'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
November 6, 2026

Dear CSD Families:

This year, Veterans Day falls on Wednesday, November 11, right smack in the middle of our week! It's the perfect opportunity to pause our busy schedules and recognize the brave men and women who have served our country. To our veterans and military families, thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and dedication. We are grateful for you!

The qualities we celebrate in our veterans, leadership, integrity, responsibility, perseverance, and service to others, are also qualities we strive to develop in every student through our Portrait of a Graduate. They also connect beautifully to our Capturing Kids' Hearts Social Contracts, which remind us of the importance of respect, listening, kindness, and taking responsibility for how we treat one another.

As we move through the week, let's remember that gratitude isn't just something we express; it's something we demonstrate through our words, actions, and everyday interactions. Together, we can make a difference, one positive connection at a time!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Veterans Day!

Take care,
Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

Rancho Cucamonga Middle School

Growing Creativity, Innovation, and Community!

Exciting things are happening at Rancho Cucamonga Middle School as our Lions continue to explore new interests, develop valuable skills, and build connections through hands-on learning! From harvesting fresh produce to exploring new technologies and expressing creativity through art, our students are discovering that learning extends far beyond the traditional classroom.

Our Gardening Club recently celebrated a successful harvest from its hydroponics garden! Students have been growing a variety of fresh produce, including romaine lettuce, red leaf lettuce, dill, and basil. Through hydroponics, students are exploring innovative ways to grow food without traditional soil while learning about sustainability, plant science, and the importance of patience and teamwork. It's exciting to see their hard work produce such wonderful results!

Innovation is also taking center stage in our 3-D Printing Club, where students are exploring digital design and bringing their creative ideas to life. Through hands-on experiences with emerging technology, students are developing problem-solving skills, technological literacy, and an understanding of how creativity and engineering work together.

Our Lions have also been enjoying opportunities to connect through art and creativity. Last week, our In School Solutions team hosted a festive lunchtime pumpkin-painting activity, thanks to a generous donation from the Cal Poly Farm Store. Students enjoyed the opportunity to socialize, express themselves, and add a little seasonal fun to their school day. Meanwhile, students in our morning Think Together program have been creating beautiful stained glass-inspired artwork, experimenting with color and design while starting their mornings with creativity and connection.

At RCMS, we know that some of the most meaningful learning happens when students have opportunities to explore, create, and connect. We are grateful to the dedicated staff and community partners who make these experiences possible and proud of the students who continue to make the most of them. It's a great time to be a Lion!
