SUPERINTENDENT'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
8/29/2025
Dear Cucamonga SD Families,

Can you believe it? We've officially completed three full weeks of the school year! It’s been such a joy welcoming your children back and watching them dive into learning, reconnect with friends, and settle into new routines. We hope your family is starting to feel the rhythm of the new school year and that it’s been a smooth and exciting start for everyone.

As we head into the Labor Day weekend, we want to take a moment to say thank you. Your support, encouragement, and involvement are a huge part of what makes our school community so special. This long weekend is a perfect time to relax, recharge, and spend some quality time together.

Fun Facts to Share with Your Kids:
  • Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894 to celebrate the hard work and achievements of American workers. That’s over 130 years of honoring workers!
  • The average American spends about 90,000 hours at work over their lifetime. That’s a lot of coffee and teamwork!
  • In some parts of the country, Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer — so don’t forget to soak in those last sunny moments!
Whether you're enjoying a backyard BBQ, heading to a local event, or just relaxing at home, we hope your family enjoys a safe, joyful, and well-deserved break.

We can’t wait to see everyone back next week, ready for more learning, laughter, and fun!

Take care,
Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

Los Amigos Elementary School
By Principal Amber Arreguin

Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year!

Welcome back! It has been an absolute joy to see our students' smiling faces fill the hallways and classrooms again. I'm so excited to officially kick off the 2025-2026 school year. We've had a wonderfully smooth start, and I want to share some of the great things happening around our school.

Our amazing teachers have been working hard to help students get settled in. They're guiding them through new routines and expectations, making sure everyone feels comfortable and confident in their new grade. A huge part of this is building our classroom communities. Throughout the first weeks, teachers have been facilitating community circles, which are a fantastic way for students to get to know each other and create a safe, positive space for learning.

Our administration team has also had the opportunity to meet with every grade level. We've talked about what it means to be the best version of yourself and how to be a positive contributor to our school community. We've also reviewed our ROAR Model expectations, which help set the foundation for a respectful and supportive environment for everyone.

Academics are in full swing! Our teachers and support staff are already working together to gather important data on our students. This helps us understand exactly where each of our young Dragons is in their learning journey, so we can provide the best support and help them continue to grow and develop.

Thank you for your partnership as we begin another great year. It's going to be a fantastic one!
