Dear Cucamonga School District Families,
President’s Day is coming up, and it’s a perfect time for us to think about the important leaders who helped shape our country. Presidents like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln didn’t just lead—they used creativity, hard work, and problem-solving to make decisions that affected everyone. These same qualities are important to us here at CSD as we help our students grow into thoughtful and caring leaders!
Just like the presidents, our students are learning to be creative and innovative. Whether it’s solving problems in the classroom or coming up with new ideas, creativity helps them think outside the box! And just like President Lincoln worked hard to solve problems, our students are learning to keep trying, no matter how difficult the challenge—this is called resilience! We celebrate how our students are growing into strong leaders who can face challenges and always keep learning.
At Cucamonga School District, we also want students to be great listeners and understand other people's feelings, just like the presidents did when making important decisions. This is all about empathy, and it helps our students connect with others and work together to make our world better. Let’s celebrate President’s Day by remembering that leaders—whether they’re presidents or students—are always learning, improving, and caring about those around them.
Enjoy the holiday and keep being awesome!
Michael Chaix, Ed.D. Superintendent
Here are a couple of fun facts for the little ones to enjoy:
-
Abraham Lincoln’s Tall Hat – Did you know that President Lincoln wore a super tall hat? He didn’t just wear it to look cool—he used it to carry important papers!
-
George Washington’s Teeth – No, George Washington didn’t have wooden teeth! He actually had dentures made from ivory, gold, and even lead!
