Cucamonga School District Families,

As we move through September, we want to highlight two important observances: Attendance Awareness Month and Hispanic Heritage Month.

Attendance Awareness Month
Regular school attendance is vital for student success. This month we encourage everyone – students, parents, and teachers – to emphasize the importance of being in school every day to help students achieve their best.

Hispanic Heritage Month
This a time to celebrate and learn about the rich cultural contributions of Hispanic cultures. It’s a time to honor the diverse histories, traditions, and achievements of Hispanic individuals and groups. Through various events and educational activities, we aim to deepen our understanding and appreciation of the vibrant Hispanic heritage that enriches our society.

In addition to these observances, we are actively collaborating with the San Bernardino County Fire Department and other local agencies to stay updated on recent fires and ensure community safety. Our priority remains the well-being of our students and staff. We will keep you informed with any relevant updates and information as the situation develops.

Take Care,
Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

Cucamonga Elementary School
By Principal Dr. Jenna Garretson-Tremayne

At Cucamonga Elementary, we are committed to fostering a strong sense of community and ensuring that our school is a place where families, students, anstaff come together to build lasting connections.  We believe that an engaged and active school community is essential to our students' success, and we are thrilled with the increased participation we've seen so far this school year.

Our goal to enhance community engagement is already off to a great start!  Recently, we held our First Family Food Night at McDonald's, where we raised over $500 for future school events, while families enjoyed meals and children played together.  It was a wonderful opportunity to connect and support our school.

Last week, many of our staff members and families attended the Quakes Baseball game, which provided a fun-filled evening of baseball, family time, and even an exciting moment where our students got to run the field together!

Looking ahead, we're excited to invite all families to our campus next week for the Bubble Run Fundraiser Event (an event that has already raised over $10,000 and counting!).  This promises to be a fun and active morning, filled with laughter and bubbles, all while supporting our school!  We look forward to seeing everyone there.

In addition to these wonderful events, we are proud to celebrate the diversity of our school community.  Next week marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, and to honor this, we will be giving each classroom a copy of the book "RIver of Mariposas", a beautiful story that highlights culture, nature, and imagination.

We are incredibly proud of the sense of togetherness we are building and look forward to continuing to offer opportunities for our school community to connect, engage, and support one another.  Thank you to our parents and staff for being an essential part of making Cucamonga Elementary a special place for our children to grow and learn.
